Creating a Backup
The guided backup flow, with optional encryption.
Last updated on
/backup create passphraseStarts a guided, 4-step flow that walks you through exactly what gets included in the backup before it's created — you're not just blindly snapshotting everything with no visibility into it.
Optional: encrypt on creation
Set passphrase to encrypt the backup with AES-256-GCM as it's created. If you set this, write the passphrase down somewhere safe — Lumière does not store it, and there is no recovery option if you lose it. See Encrypted Backups for more detail.
After creation
Once your backup is created, it's assigned a backup ID you'll use for every other backup command — restoring, renaming, exporting, and so on. Find it any time with /backup list.
